Recurring orders
Learn to create a template for regular trips, and to create the orders from the template on the right days.
Goals and why
What you will learn
- turn an ordinary order into a template for a regular trip
- set the schedule: which days, months and periods the template applies
- create the orders for a date with Generate
- find out why a trip is missing or came twice
Many customers have regular trips, for example the same pickup every Tuesday and Friday. A recurring order is a template for trips like these. You enter customer, addresses, goods and price once. Then the system creates ordinary orders according to the schedule.
The orders are not created by themselves. You have to generate them for a date in the Recurring orders register. They then land in All unassigned orders, or with the driver set on the template. If you forget to generate, the trip is not planned. A template that is parked or has an empty schedule doesn't create any orders either.

All correct completes the lesson- Common support case: "the regular orders didn't come". Check that someone clicked Generate for the date, that the template is Active, that the month and weekday are ticked, and that the right department is selected. Generate only creates orders for the department the user is in.
- Recurring on an existing order gives a template with an empty schedule (start and end today, no weekdays). The customer must fill in Recurring Order Settings afterwards, or nothing is created.
- The help article says generated orders are linked to the template as "parent". In the code the link only exists in the Recurring orders log, not on the order.
