Notify the recipient: SMS and email on the order
Learn to add SMS and email notifications to the order, give regular contacts default notifications and check what was actually sent.
Goals and why
What you will learn
- add a notification to the order: before or after pickup and delivery, by SMS or email
- give a customer contact default notifications that come with every new order
- set your own SMS text after pickup on the customer card
- find out what was sent, and send the order confirmation or POD again
Notifications are what the customer and the recipient actually see of your work. If the recipient is told when the driver is on the way, she is ready at the door. Without a notification she calls you, or the driver arrives at an empty address and has to come back.
A notification is a rule on the order: «send an SMS to this number when this happens». The system sends it by itself when the driver reports status in the FleetX app. So you must add the notification before the event happens.

All correct completes the lesson- Level 2 in Dispatcher 0 of 8 completed
- Level 2 in Administrator 0 of 9 completed
- Requires module 15 Order Notifications (the Notifications button in the order view and the notifications card on the contact). SMS also requires module 1 SMS Sender. The notifications card on the contact is hidden if Notifications is turned off in the customer web settings (Settings → Client settings, Weborder).
- Common support case: «the recipient got no SMS». Check in order: is the notification in Active Notifications, was it added before the event, and what does the Notifications queue say (Waiting, Response «Invalid email address» or «Missing address»). Notifications older than 72 hours are not sent, and the system tries at most twice.
- On line orders, pickup notifications are placed on the first sub-order and delivery notifications on the last. The rule engine (Rules) also has the Send Notification action, for example on a failed stop.
