Goals and why

What you will learn

  • create a new user with name, email and password
  • choose the role first and then adjust the permissions in the permission tree
  • how the department controls which orders and resources the user sees
  • close access with Active when someone leaves

How to get there

  1. Click Settings in the top menu.
  2. Choose Users under Registers.
  3. You create a new user with the Add button at the top of the user list.
  4. If you cannot see the menu item, or it has a padlock, you lack access. Ask your administrator.

Everyone who logs in to Frakt24 has their own user. Two things decide what a user can reach. The role controls what the user can do. The department controls which data the user sees. If one of these is wrong, the user can do things they should not, or not see the orders they should work with.

The order matters. If you change the role later, all the permissions for the new role are loaded. Then what you adjusted by hand is lost.

Key terms

Role (group)A ready set of permissions, for example Dispatcher or Manager. In the user list the column is called Group. You start with the role and can adjust the permissions afterwards.
Permission treeThe list of pages the user can be given access to, grouped by area. A counter shows how many pages are selected.
DepartmentControls which orders and resources the user sees. Without the departments module, all users are in the default department.
ActiveThe switch that decides whether the account can log in. Users cannot be deleted, so you close access by turning Active off.

All correct completes the lesson
Answer all correctly to complete the lesson You see which answers are wrong, and you can try as many times as you like. This lesson counts towards the level 1 badge in Administrator: 0 of 4 complete.
1. You have adjusted a user's permissions by hand, and then change to another role. What happens?

2. You have the departments module. A new dispatcher logs in but does not see the orders they should work with. The role is right. What do you check?

3. What is the difference between the role and the department?

4. You know a user exists, but you cannot find them in the user list. What do you check first?

5. You want to give a user access to the pages of a module, but the pages are not in the permission tree. What is the cause?

6. A dispatcher is leaving. The account must not be able to log in, but the logs should still show who did what. What do you do?

You are not signed in, so the result is not saved.

Trainer notesOnly shown when trainer mode is on
  • Departments require module 37. The test tenant doesn't have it, so the Departments tab doesn't show in the screenshots.
  • The user list only shows users linked to at least one department. The form always gives at least the default department, and a user without a department cannot log in. Users cannot be deleted, only closed with Active.
