Learn to book vehicles and equipment on the orders in the vehicle calendar, and to assign the driver afterwards.

Goals and why

What you will learn

  • book a vehicle on an order by dragging the order onto the vehicle's row
  • see which vehicles are free, and when
  • rebook or remove a booking
  • assign the driver once the vehicles are booked

The vehicle calendar shows every truck, trailer and machine as its own row. The bookings are blocks in the row. When you drag an order onto a vehicle, the vehicle is booked on the order for that period. Your colleagues see the booking in their calendars.

A booking sends nothing to the driver. You have to assign the driver as a separate step. The system also doesn't stop you if you book the same vehicle on two orders at the same time. So look for free space in the row before you drop the order.

Key terms

Vehicle calendarThe view with one row per vehicle, grouped by vehicle type, and the bookings as blocks.
BookingA vehicle reserved on an order for a set period.
Order stackThe orders that don't have a vehicle booked yet.
All vehiclesThe picker for which vehicles the calendar shows. An empty selection shows all of them.
AssignmentSending the order to the driver. It is a separate step, and it happens independently of the booking.

Trainer notesOnly shown when trainer mode is on
  • Requires module 24 (Assets/vehicles). Without it, the truck button is not shown on the dispatch screen.
  • The system does not check for overlapping bookings. Customers who expect double-booking to be blocked automatically need to be shown the row in the calendar.
  • Good demo point for companies with trailers, cranes and special equipment: one row per unit makes it easy to see what is free.
