Goals and why

What you will learn

  • how punching and daily reports differ from each other
  • read the yellow and green columns in the Daily Log
  • find each punch in the Log tab and see whether it came from the app or the office
  • how the activity type decides which hour type the hours get

How to get there

  1. Click the calendar icon at the top right of Frakt24. The time module opens.
  2. Click Attendance in the menu on the left, and choose Daily Log.
  3. The daily reports are under Attendance → Daily Reports. The activity types are under Settings → Attendance Types.
  4. If you don't see the icon or the menu item, you are missing access or the module. Ask your administrator.

Time comes in two ways. With punching, the employee taps in and out in the FleetX app during the day. With a daily report, the employee enters the day after it is over. The employee type is a setting on each employee. It decides whether the employee punches, sends daily reports or does both. The tachograph is not a third way. For employees who only punch, it fills in the activities of a day that has been punched.

The Daily Log is the list where all the time lands, one day at a time. You will approve these figures, so you need to know where they come from. The yellow columns show what was logged. The green ones show what the rules have turned the time into for payroll. If something looks odd in green, you find the explanation in yellow.

Key terms

Activity TypeWhat the employee did, for example driving, loading or break. The activity type also decides which hour type the hours land on. The hour type is the code the payroll system recognises.
PunchingThe employee taps in and out in the FleetX app during the day. When the work changes, the employee switches activity.
Daily reportThe day entered afterwards: the periods you worked, what you did, optionally project and vehicle, and per-diem claims.
Activity hoursThe yellow columns in the Daily Log. They show what was logged, split into driving, other work and break.
Calculated hoursThe green columns in the Daily Log. They show the hours split into normal time, overtime, surcharge and flexitime for payroll.

All correct completes the lesson
Answer all correctly to complete the lesson You see which answers are wrong, and you can try as many times as you like. This lesson counts towards the level 1 badge in Time and payroll: 0 of 3 complete.
1. A driver wants to send a daily report for tomorrow, because he knows he will drive the same route. Is that possible?

2. In the Daily Log, Sum shows 13:07 in yellow, but green shows Normal 09:00 and Overtime 04:07. What does that mean?

3. A driver loaded for two hours and drove the rest of the day. How does he get the hours split correctly?

4. A new employee cannot find the daily report in the app, only punching. What do you check first?

5. In the Log tab, the Source column says tms for a punch. What does that mean?

6. The drivers ask whether their break is paid. Where do you find the answer?

7. A driver is still punched in and tries to send a daily report for today. He cannot send it. Why?

You are not signed in, so the result is not saved.

Trainer notesOnly shown when trainer mode is on
  • The registration method is controlled by the employee type (punching only, daily reports only or both; default punching only). Punching also requires «use punch clock» to be ticked on the TMS user.
  • Automatic punch-out at the end of the shift is under Attendance Settings → Definitions (off by default). It warns the employee first.
  • A daily report is blocked while the employee is punched in the same day or the day before, and its periods cannot overlap other registered time that day.
