Goals and why

What you will learn

  • find the most important violations with the status and severity filters
  • read a violation case: measured value, threshold and deviation
  • resolve, dismiss or reopen a case with a reason
  • how the rules also split the hours into normal time and overtime

The system checks the employees' days regularly. When a limit for working time, driving time or rest has not been followed, it creates a case in the violation list. The employee type decides which rules apply. In the test company the drivers have rules for both working time and rest. The office only has the working time rule.

A case is not done until someone has taken a position on it. Everything you do is saved in the status history, so an audit can see what was done and why. Resolve the red violations before you approve the period. The right rules give both the right control and the right pay.

Key terms

SeverityHow serious the violation is: Info, Warning, Critical or Legal Breach. The rule that was broken decides this.
Measured Value and Threshold ValueWhat was actually measured, for example 7 hours of rest, against the rule's requirement, for example at least 11 hours.
DeviationHow far outside the limit the employee was, for example 4 hours too little rest.
Resolve, Dismiss and ReopenWhat you can do with a case. All three require a text of at least ten characters, and the text is saved in the status history.
Compliance RuleA rule for working time or rest. It applies to one or more employee types.

All correct completes the lesson
Answer all correctly to complete the lesson You see which answers are wrong, and you can try as many times as you like. This lesson counts towards the level 2 badge in Time and payroll: 0 of 5 complete.
1. You are short on time and want to handle the most important violations first. How do you filter?

2. A daily rest violation has a deviation of 4 h. What does that mean?

3. You want to dismiss a violation because the attendance was registered wrongly. What is required?

4. A driver worked 13 h 07 min. Why does it show 9 h normal time and 4 h 07 min Overtime 50 % without anyone entering it?

5. A driver thinks his violation is wrongly marked as Critical. Can you change the severity of the case?

6. A violation is caused by the driver forgetting to punch out. How do you correct the hours from the violation case?

7. You want to write a note in a violation case that only managers should see. What do you do?

You are not signed in, so the result is not saved.

Trainer notesOnly shown when trainer mode is on
  • Violations are created by a job that checks yesterday and today every hour, for active employees who have an employee type. They are not created the moment someone punches, and the job only looks at days where the registration has status approved.
  • In the test company some employees show as «Driver 2 null» because the last name is missing. The name is corrected in the recording.
  • The Report tab and the violation exports are covered in the lesson on documentation for inspections and audits.
